Because it makes a few things easier as he sits down on Tidus's lap, his legs straddling the other guy's. Yes, it is easier to undo the buttons when he can actually look at them instead of having to blindly fumble and hope that he's getting them undone.

But at the same time it's so much harder to undo the buttons because it's incredibly difficult to focus in this position, sitting here on Tidus's lap like this when he knows what's about to follow.

Inigo is trying so hard though. The small, focused frown on his face as he intensely looks at the buttons as he undoes them one by one is almost adorable in its sincerity. ]
