[ In truth, this was never a line of questioning bound to go anywhere; Tidus can't even think of a single time he could take Inigo as flirting with him, but has he just been secretly oblivious!? --which isn't a scenario he believes either, but the mere line of questioning has allowed his single braincell to leave the station.
Fortunately for Inigo, his plate is indeed empty, all Tidus has left the drink he's been sipping from. But Tidus still needs to look down, then look back at Inigo. ]
There's no dessert?
[ bro don't you wanna see if they have any dessert on offer, bro bro-- ]
Okaaaayyyyy. [ Okaaaayyyy, fiiine, fine! He's getting up with his cup and plate, putting the first away in his arms band (in case he wants to keep drinking it along the way!) and then leaving his empty plate on the trolley by the way out. Because Inigo is so impatient. Because he doesn't even want to see if there's dessert!!!
They'll have to suffer the walk to the cabins, but the long walk is nice after dinner, and definitely doesn't have Tidus thinking about dessert again by the time they hit the music carriage. But he keeps his mouth zipped, up until they reach the 'hire' car, eyeing the see-through layout of the three rooms, scoffing at the first two. ] Who'd spend money for either of these?
[ But of course, he's probably not going to get Inigo to let him linger and check out through the window doors the third meeting room for long, with his grand need to get to the double rooms. The ICP sits waiting for them as they get through to the carriage, the first nearby door already having name plates inserted. Tidus doesn't look to any of the others, tapping on the screen that brings up availability.
Although it's a very rightful callout that Inigo won't fully let Tidus linger. Or rather, it's not like he's urging the other to move on while he's looking at the rooms for hire, but Inigo is doing that typical thing people always do when they're very obviously and nervously waiting - just standing there, hopping from leg to leg, unable to stand still while someone is just trying to calmly view something.
Sorry, bro, he can't help it, okay!! He's very easily anxious!!
And with how convinced he had been all day that there was no way Tidus would want to share a room, he's now extra excited to be able to see the room they can make theirs after all.
So he remains a little hoppy-jumpy-nervous all the way until they get to the screen. Heck, he's hopping a little even as he replies, looking kind of surprised. ]
Really? I thought they would fill up right away. [ With all the couples on the train..
But then again, if they're not as popular, Inigo doesn't have to feel bad about taking one up with his crush bro either. ]
[ Tidus is humming as he reads the screen requirements, few as they are. Over the age of sixteen, around for three months, both of their tickets to verify their request. It's all so simple considering how...little choice they ever have about anything, but Tidus didn't really have many expectations, truthfully.
So he taps the screen asking to scan their tickets, and brings out his from the void of nowhere. Flashes it across, and the wording asks for another. ]
[ It only takes a second for Inigo to pull his own ticket out too and hold it in front of the screen.
It's scanned, and then the data is apparently already entered, their names appearing on the sign along one of the doors. ]
.. it's that easy?
[ It's definitely phrased as a question, considering Tidus is usually better with pretty much any technology than he is. Did they do it right? Is that their room now? ]
We're room...upper C? [ So the screen says, Tidus peering towards the gap leading to the stairs, which Inigo happens to be closer to. He gestures with both hands in direction. ]
Princes first.
[ He could just go around Inigo, but he's not the impatient guy here. Though...he is curious about if their stuff will be in the room or what. How does this work?? ]
[ Inigo is so curious about this room that there's not even any flustered response to the whole prince joke. Instead he just moves right over to where their room should be, going up the stairs and past the first few rooms, until he spots right one.
Opening the door up with his ticket, he curiously peers inside-- but doesn't actually walk inside, which means he's very handily blocking the entire doorway with his body.
Good job, Inigo. At least Tidus can look over him if he tries... ]
Wow.. It really does look different from the normal rooms!
[ Sure, the space still isn't too generous, but there is some actual place to stand around without being squished by bunks on both sides. ]
[ WHY IS HE STANDING RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE DOORWAY!!!
Of course Tidus is looking over him, his shoulder, hands holding on and then nudging the shoulder down so Tidus can get a better look. He wasn't as invested as Inigo, but he's still curious - and he's not about to be stopped from going inside by the body in front of him- ]
Well? Let's go in!
[ Because he's pushing the both of them inside, taking a hold of Inigo by the waist if he has to and walking him in with him, far enough that he can close the door behind them and get a real look around. ]
Wow... it's like someone shoved an oversized bed into a pantry and said that was good enough!
[ Which isn't stopping Tidus from going to said bed and sitting down on it. Wow, talk about no bounce and being utterly boring. ]
[ Inigo is easily moved inside, though rather than following Tidus by moving to sit down on the bad, he just stares there, letting out a sound that starts like the beginning of a whine when Tidus speaks up. ]
Come on, Tidus.
[ Come onnnn, bro. He gets it. It's still a train room. It still sucks compared to any normal bedroom.
But Inigo isn't here to complain!! ]
Isn't it nice too? Now there'll just be us in here! No more switching roommates, or wet floors from the bathtub. [ Even if the latter is gone too now in the old room. ]
[ Please Inigo, Tidus misses that bathtub, don't badmouth it. ]
I'm not saying it was a bad swap! [ His hands are coming up in defence! ] The train just doesn't know how to make a room! But that's nothing new.
[ And he's giving the room another look around, at the multiple of cubby holes that make the one wall that doesn't have a bed shoved against it. ]
But it does have a lot more space than sharing with four... you still sure you're okay sharing a bed like this?
[ It's a question asked as Tidus shuffles himself backwards, let's his back fall onto the bed and view he ceiling above. That's new -- having an actual ceiling to see than Inigo's bunk above him.
It's rather interesting, to just lay and stare at. ]
Yes, I'm definitely more than okay with it. [ Inigo is doing his best to not sound exasperated about it, because he knows now more than ever how much of a big deal it is to Tidus.
And while it's less of a big deal for Inigo - at least, in that way, though it's a bigger deal in certain other ways - he doesn't exactly want to make the other feel weird for it. ]
We've slept in the same bunk before multiple times, right? And that was a lot tighter. I don't think you ever kicked me in your sleep.
[ Inigo was starting to look at the cubbies, but now he turns around to look at Tidus on the bed. ]
Or do you want me to lay down too to see how it feels? [ You know.
[ Never kicked him in his sleep, hasn't he? The idea that promotes - about maybe giving Inigo a light kick now - brings a sly curve to Tidus's mouth, an arm coming under the back of his head to prop it as he tilts his gaze with that last question. ]
You can if you want to. [ And get kicked...!!!
But Tidus won't do that. He's still in that state of taking in this room, how both ordinary and...bizarre it seems. Like it might be only a temporary situation, much like how missions bring a temporary change to their lives.
In a way, it's what Tidus has always wanted: a better sleeping situation. But it's strange that they've gotten it, and that...well, it is what it is. Sharing a bed with Inigo.
Not really that strange - it's as Inigo says, that it's nothing new. ]
Especially since he - very innocently - over here has no idea about the potential kick plan that's being hatched in Tidus's mind, even if it is discarded fairly soon after. So he steps over to the bed, sitting down on the edge and even politely kicking off his boots before moving to fully lay down on there next to Tidus.
.. it's a lot more space than he's gotten used to during all these months, especially with someone right next to him. Their shoulders aren't even touching (though there's not that much distance, to be fair), while they wouldn't even have been able to lay on their backs next to each other on a bunk in the first place.
After considering it for a moment Inigo turns onto his side, looking in Tidus's direction. ]
[ Inigo's gaze settles on him, and Tidus hums, first sounding like a simple agreement that then drags out into uncertainty, uncertainty into playfulness. He looks back up at the ceiling, feeling the smile on his mouth turn silly. He could answer honestly, he could joke, but he can't decide between the two, becoming this goofy mess beside Inigo instead. ]
I guess it's okay. [ He kicks his feet up, shoes still on his feet, just to bend his knees. His answer even playfully simple, just for fun. A light chuckle escaping his throat. ] No more climbing out of bed. Or hiding snacks in your bed.
[ He turns his head, smile showing teeth in what's near to a grin. ] You're gonna try searching for the ladder first morning.
Except Tidus is totally right. Inigo is going to try to climb down out of sheer habit after getting up in the morning, and since there's no actual ladder here, probably misstep and end up on the floor first thing.
And Tidus will have all right to laugh.
But right now Inigo seems very convinced that he won't. Not even in an angry protesting sort of way - because he's smiling too as he says it, perhaps just at the very sight of that goofy grin. ]
[ Please, Tidus so wants to nag that Inigo will, fuelled by the way that Inigo protests it, that he knows it (likely) won't seriously upset the guy. But then he's talking about locked doors, and a puzzled layer comes over his expression. ]
No? [ Why would Inigo be talking about tha...oh. ] Please don't tell me you wanna take a nap. You love napping way too much.
[ Sometimes Inigo swears his best friend has rocks in his head rather than an actual brain. Like right now. Yes, Inigo loves cuddling, but why would that require a locked door, huh? He wasn't afraid of Rose spotting him cuddling with his bro, that sounds more like a you problem, dude!
But he quickly shoves down the 'really??' exasperated reaction in favour of something a little more productive.
Something that makes him roll over and push himself up at the same time, so he's hovering over Tidus, both of his hands pushing down on the bed right above Tidus's shoulders. ]
No, I mean.. no one can come in.
[ He's trying so hard to sound more sultry this time as he's saying it.
But there's a blush on his cheeks betraying him. ]
[ Inigo's shadow casts down over him, not hiding the expression on his face; puzzlement not having time to exist beyond the first few seconds before Inigo speaks, and everything about the innocence in all of this being extinguished like a flame, heart pausing in his chest.
There may be nerves on Inigo's end, an awkwardness, a note not delivered as he tries, but it sinks into Tidus with a sharp blade, the implications and positioning working to make his mind go places, his heart to find its beat again, and even lower than that--
Is that what Inigo means? --he shouldn't be thinking with his dick right now, should he? Why is he even thinking with his dick in the first place...!? ]
Oh. [ Oh. It's about as best as Tidus can manage to get out, his gaze keeping on Inigo, his hands coming to rest on the forearms by his head, none of him knowing what to do, what to say.
Except, in his own awkward state, stilted- ] No. They can't.
[ (He just means kissing, he reminds himself. It's just kissing.
But maybe there's a tiny voice in him that wants him not to.) ]
[ It's not hard to see that Tidus is starting to look awkward. And Inigo can't be sure if it's a similar awkwardness as the one that sits within him at the thought of all of this, or if it's awkward because Inigo is going into a direction Tidus doesn't want to go.
But.. then again, last time Tidus really did seem in the end like he was all for it, before Inigo made it awkward for really dumb reasons.
He has to trust himself here. And Tidus. One of them has to be the non-awkward one here, and while that role usually falls on his friend's shoulders, Inigo feels like he should be picking up that mantle right now.
So he breathes in, trying to steel himself, and then moves one of his hands. His finger lands on Tidus's lips before slowly moving down, trailing across his jaw, then over his shirt, still moving down.
(Inigo's heart is beating so loudly that Inigo can hear it in his ears.) ]
Then.. you know what we could do, right?
[ That manages to sound a bit less awkward though, thankfully. Those years of acting like he was okay whenever he wasn't back home did at least somewhat pay off.
Maybe he can even manage to actually sound a bit confident about this. ]
[ He's at a loss, a shock that he doesn't know what to do with, along with everything else. The feathering touch that trails from his lips, touching skin and jaw; it doesn't have to be firm for Tidus to be aware of it, the glance he takes away from Inigo's eyes, searching for a hand that he doesn't give himself time to find and see when he looks back to Inigo's face.
Tidus doesn't even dare to swallow. Caught so off-guard, not expecting any of this despite the discussions they've had. But Inigo is so different -- was he thinking about this all day? Has he been thinking about this for a while now? While it's always felt like his idea, his suggestion, his task to ease them into this, to not be the one holding the reins for once makes it hard for Tidus's brain to know what he should be doing, what.
Ah- maybe speaking, for one. Answering Inigo, the warmth of his cheeks - in his entire being - perhaps evident with that shy look worn. ]
I-- ...it's...okay. [ All this is sure putting him in his place; the place he always is, really, despite where he has to fit himself to be the confident one, the one of them that's sure about everything they do. Plenty he could be doing in response with his hands or his body, but what does Tidus know what to be, how to act? But he does reach out with a hand, slipping it in the space to rest on Inigo's side, close to his thigh; some reciprocation of touch for touch, as chaste in comparison it might be. ]
Have you been thinking about it? [ He asks lowly, maybe a touch flirtatious - maybe more so hopeful, searching. That this has been something Inigo's wanted for himself, than just the other guy going along with his ideas as he always does.
Have you been having thoughts about this? Fantasies? ]
[ Even moreso than the hand landing nearly on his thigh, it's the gaze that's looking back at him that's getting to Inigo more than anything here. It's not like he has never seen Tidus shy before, but it's a rarity. Tidus is usually so confident, charging right ahead - and Inigo likes that about the other, admires it so much, but it still feels special to see him instead like this.
Especially when Inigo realises that it's because of what he's doing. That he's the one getting Tidus to look like this in the first place.
His stomach goes wild with butterflies - and a little beyond that.
Enough so that he's entirely honest in his answer. ]
Yeah.
[ His hand stills on its journey downward, resting near where Tidus's belly button ought to be. ]
So often. Already a long time before we spoke of it. [ Even Inigo himself isn't sure when it first began. Back when he saw Tidus in the hot springs? Back on the market in Irivar?
It must have been somewhere around the time of those two moments - but regardless, that's a pretty long time ago by now. And long, long before the end of the previous mission. ]
I thought.. [ Inigo's voice lingers for a moment. It's harder to act confident the more he speaks, but he's trying. He's just telling the truth here, he tells himself. A truth Tidus wants to hear too, even though Inigo kept it to himself for so long because he feared the other wouldn't want to hear even one word of it. ] I thought of what you'd feel like. What you'd look like.
[ There's a twitch through him, anticipation and apprehension that makes his stomach sink away from Inigo's touch, to settle back into it. Anticipation, apprehension - two ingredients for a cocktail that's already making Tidus dizzier and dizzier, as if he needs more help to lose him as to how they got here. Was this Inigo's plan from the moment that he brought up about the double room? All that time, believing their minds on were entirely different things; and it's not like Inigo didn't mention it subtly, and it's not like it's anything deceitful.
But it's as if they're on two entirely different planes, with just how together Inigo is above him, the words that he's saying. Truths he's about to take to mean just wanting sex, but Inigo doesn't allow him to take it in that angle as he goes on.
I thought of what you'd feel like. What you'd look like.
A noise escapes his throat, a strangled shudder, embarrassed, and more so once it's out. His legs have lowered those bent knees already with the hand getting so close, so close, and Tidus can't keep his eyes on Inigo's so easily. The hand still resting on his thigh, and does he know what to do with this information? Does he know what he would do if that hand of Inigo's was to go lower, touch him, just like he wants it to? Anticipation, apprehension-- ]
...You know we can't go all the way, right? [ He's staring holes into the wall, a new found friend already in this new room of theirs; his fingers with Inigo reaching up and gripping onto his shirt. ] Like, there's stuff, and...
[ and... And he doesn't very well like to be staring at that wall after all when Inigo is right there, like it's fine just to ignore him that way. Turning his eyes back onto him, feeling so completely out of his depth. ] I think there's--stuff you have to do.
[ There's a question in the way he ends, an uncertainty, as if Inigo might know. The guy here who was actually going to get married to another man, and so - it's likely, right?
The guy whose thoughts have gone even further than his, with acts that Tidus can only assume on his mind. ]
[ That'd be right up there at the top of the list with dumb ideas. Not that Inigo doesn't want it. He really does, but.. doing that right away, and so sudden, just when they got their room together.. He can only imagine how wildly desperate it might make him seem, even if all the logistics for it were in place.
So he just decides to say 'I know', hoping it sounds more confident than he's feeling right now. ]
But we don't have to go that far. [ 'Not today', he almost adds, but.. see the note above about seeming too wildly desperate. Would it be too much for Tidus to put it that way? Maybe he should play it safe?
For a guy who's coming across as pretty seductive right now, Inigo's own head is just as much of a mess with the constant thoughts of what he should do, or what he shouldn't do, trying to keep a delicate balance here.
His hand glides just a touch lower. But not there, not yet-- ]
I can just.. make you feel good. [ It's ironic, because in every single fantasy Inigo has had, it wasn't like this. It was Tidus doing everything to him.
And yet he doesn't find himself minding this idea as much. Not with Tidus looking like this, his cheeks pink, something about him looking shy. And not with how Inigo does want to show his appreciation to Tidus for going along with the idea of the room, with.. well, all of this in the first place.
(Fellas, is it gay to want to jack off your bro in appreciation?) ]
no subject
Fortunately for Inigo, his plate is indeed empty, all Tidus has left the drink he's been sipping from. But Tidus still needs to look down, then look back at Inigo. ]

[ Bro.

Fantasies? ]

Do you want me to?
